Jean     Once you have tasted the Zandvliet Unwooded Chardonnay, you'll never forget it

We expected that the unwooded Chardonnay would not deliver the same flavours as a wooded Chardonnay and therefore we couldn't rely on our Guide Dog for White Wines too much. We enjoyed the challenge! This is a full-flavoured unsweet green earthy wine with excellent acidity balance and a lightly spiced lingering finish. Its not as pungent as a wooded Chardonnay, and the colour is beautiful. The taste is memorable and I believe I will be able to distinguish it from other wines until Zandvliet stop making it.

alright

Joey     Fresh crisp no fuss easy drinking

While the citrus and tropical fruits (which I find quite interesting as I'm usually a heavily wooded Chardonnay lover) is fresh and lively in the beginning - the finish is short and the flavours do not linger. However, the wine is very pleasant, no fuss and light - very easy drinking. Generally most found it a bit too light, just not enough body. We discussed having it rather in summer with salads and sunsets outside.

J9     Would be great with fruit and cheese.

More of a have with food wine than just a have with friend wine.

must have

Carouselambra     Galadriel, not Dobby

I'm delighted by this wine, and I don't usually care for unwooded Chardonnay - usually I can't see the point of it. But this little beauty is one of those 'elf-made wines' - and I'm talking Galadriel, not Dobby. Makes me long for Spring. I see it has an expected price of about R45 - I'll be buying several bottles of this!

alright

Jock     Not mind blowing

It was alright, but it's not a wine I would specifically go out and buy, but I wouldn't say no if someone offered me a glass.

must have

Sauvy     Only one of my best wines ever!

Learnt how to drink red wine with the Shiraz...haven't had it for a few years!

Jean     Could be a very interesting tasting!

Yes please we are up for the Chardonnay - I actually prefer an unwooded Chardonnay. Lets have a sniff at it!

Da Nose!     Ooh Gimme

Well the short reason is I like wine. The long reason is I vaguely remember having a Zandvliet wine a while ago and quite liking it. Shiraz please!

Bigdog     Kicking off a tasting!

Zandvliet has sent us this wine as a new release to get the Dogz opinion on it. If you'd like one of the sample bottles make a comment and tell us why!
